Thesis & Dissertation Editing

Chapter-aware AI editing for theses and dissertations up to 150,000 words

What It Does

Thesis & Dissertation Editing uses a specialized two-pass AI architecture designed for long-form academic documents. Pass 1 summarizes each chapter to build cross-chapter context. Pass 2 edits section by section with full awareness of chapter-level terminology, acronym definitions, and stylistic decisions — so your 200-page dissertation reads as a single cohesive document, not a patchwork of independently edited chapters.

How It Works

  1. Upload your thesis or dissertation (.doc or .docx — PDF is not supported for this service)
  2. Select "Thesis / Dissertation" and choose your LLM provider, English variant, and style guide
  3. Pay with subscription credits or via card, Alipay, or WeChat Pay
  4. AI performs a two-pass edit: first summarizing each chapter, then editing section by section with cross-chapter context
  5. Download your revised document with tracked changes

What You Get

Best For

Graduate students preparing a master's thesis or doctoral dissertation for committee review or final submission. Especially valuable for documents over 20,000 words where standard per-manuscript services would require splitting, and for multi-chapter works that need consistent terminology and style across the entire document.

Quick Answers

FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions

How does chapter-aware editing differ from regular editing?

Standard editing processes each section independently. Thesis editing uses a two-pass architecture: the first pass summarizes every chapter to build a context map, and the second pass edits each section with full awareness of the surrounding chapters. This means acronyms defined in Chapter 1 are not re-defined in Chapter 3, terminology stays consistent across your literature review and discussion, and stylistic choices made early in the document carry through to the end.

Why is PDF not supported for theses?

Thesis editing returns your document with Word tracked changes so you can review and accept every edit. PDF files cannot carry tracked changes, so we require .doc or .docx format. If your institution provided a PDF template, compose your thesis in Word first and upload the .docx file.

What is the maximum document length?

Thesis & Dissertation Editing supports documents up to 150,000 words — enough for even the longest doctoral dissertations. For comparison, our standard manuscript services support up to 20,000 words per submission.
